The Chair of Sinology at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg invites applications for its two-year Master of Arts program Chinese Studies with an Optional Focus.
This program is taught entirely in English and is designed to deepen your understanding of Chinese society, politics, history, and culture.
- Optional Focus: You will combine Chinese Studies with a second discipline to suit your career goals. Options include Economics, Political Science, English and American Studies, and others.
- Advanced Language Training: In addition to content courses on history, society, and politics, the curriculum includes dedicated modules to further enhance your Modern Standard Chinese language skills.
Admission Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Chinese history, literature, politics, cultural studies, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Modern Standard Chinese.
- English language proficiency of at least level C1 (CEFR).

- Tuition: There are no tuition fees (only a standard semester contribution applies).
- Start Date: Summer Term 2026 (April).
- Deadline: 15 January 2026.
