CfA: 2026-27 Visiting Fellowships, Ying-shih Yü International Center for History and the Chinese Humanities23.1.2026 {en}

In order to advance research in Chinese studies and related humanities studies, as well as to facilitate knowledge and personnel exchange between Taiwan and the world, the Ying-shih Yü International Center for History and the Chinese Humanities at National Taiwan University (hereafter “YCHCH”) invites scholars worldwide to submit proposals for visiting fellowships at YCHCH for the 2026-27 academic year.

Eligibility to Apply

The applicant must hold a doctoral degree and have an academic title of assistant professor/assistant research fellow or above with an academic institution outside Taiwan. The applicant’s research field should be related to the YCHCH’s vision of the humanities. The applicant must have a NTU full/associate/assistant professor to be his/her academic host during the fellowship period.

Grant Period

Two to four months, within one of the two University semesters:

(1) September 2026 to January 2027
(2) February 2027 to June 2027

Conditions of Awards

One round-trip air ticket (economy-class)
Monthly living and research allowance of NT$ 70,000
An office and access to NTU research facilities.
Eligibility to apply for visiting scholars dormitory

Obligations

The fellow must give at least one public talk.
The fellow must participate in events organized by YCHCH at least once.
The fellow must acknowledge receiving support from YCHCH in research carried out during the period of fellowship.

At least 1 letter of recommendation (The applicant is responsible for ensuring that the letter of reference is submitted)

Application and Notification Timeline

Application deadline: 28 February 2026
Applicants will be informed about the result in mid-April 2026.
